Overview At Regions, the Software Engineer Senior Manager manages two or more large departments within the company and oversees strategy development to ensure the application portfolio meets current business requirements and is operational, stable, and at an appropriate level of technical maturity.

Primary Responsibilities

Manages all aspects of system design, development, deployment, acquisition, and ongoing maintenance for all application systems within area of responsibility

Serves as the primary technology contact for senior management from all areas of the organization in developing technology solutions that increase the efficiency of internal business functions, resolves business problems, and supports the pursuit of business opportunities for area of responsibility

Creates and refines operational processes and systems to ensure effective regulatory and audit compliance

Applies interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions

Evaluates customer and operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrates technical parameters, and assures compatibility of all interfaces

Supports the planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of requirements through management processes

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay. This position is incentive eligible.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related field

Twelve (12) years of relevant experience

Three (3) years of supervisory or managerial experience

Preferences

Experience in Technology role in banking or financial services industry

Additional Job Description

Lead strategic planning and roadmap development for the commercial lending application portfolio, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements

Oversee application lifecycle management from conception through retirement, including technology stack decisions, architecture reviews, and modernization initiatives

Drive portfolio optimization through cloud migration strategies, legacy system modernization, and technology consolidation

Establish and maintain application portfolio governance frameworks, including risk assessment, compliance monitoring, and performance metrics

Champion and implement agile software delivery methodologies across commercial lending development teams, including Scrum, Kanban, and scaled agile frameworks where appropriate

Design and execute CI/CD pipeline strategies using AWS-native services and industry-leading tools to achieve rapid, reliable software deployment

Lead the adoption and use of DevSecOps practices, integrating security controls throughout the software delivery lifecycle while maintaining development velocity

Spearhead the integration of generative AI tools and platforms to augment software development, testing, and documentation processes

Drive AWS cloud adoption and migration, including serverless computing, managed services, and cloud-native architecture patterns

Oversee the implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform

Establish comprehensive observability frameworks using Dynatrace

Leverage container orchestration initiatives using AWS ECS, EKS, and serverless computing platforms like Lambda

Manage and mentor a team of application managers, architects, and delivery leads, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation

Collaborate with business stakeholders, integration partners, compliance teams, and risk management to ensure technology solutions meet regulatory requirements and business needs

Partner with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams to ensure consistent technology standards and practices

Drive cross-functional initiatives with other business units to share best practices and promote technology standardization

Primary Requirements

We are seeking a modern engineering leader who brings a rare blend of entrepreneurial drive, enterprise rigor, and deep technical acumen.

Proven leadership in both startup and enterprise environments, with experience scaling platforms, leading engineering organizations, and driving innovation from concept to production

Hands-on technical expertise in cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and modern software development practices (CI/CD, DevOps, test automation)

Track record of building high-performing teams, fostering engineering culture, and mentoring senior engineers and managers

Strategic thinking and business alignment, with the ability to translate complex technical challenges into business opportunities

Experience working across fintech, mobility, or enterprise SaaS domains, with a strong understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks

Passion for continuous improvement, modern architecture patterns (e.g., domain-driven design, event-driven systems), and delivering scalable, maintainable solutions

5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, including solution architecture and migration leadership

Candidates must provide concrete evidence of their modern software delivery expertise through:

Technical portfolio: Examples of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, or cloud architecture designs you've implemented

Deep expertise in agile methodologies with proven track record of improving delivery velocity and quality metrics

Advanced knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and deployment automation using tools like Harness, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, and/or AWS CodePipeline

Hands-on experience with DevSecOps implementation, including automated security testing, compliance-as-code, and security tool integration

Extensive experience with AWS services including EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudFormation, and monitoring services

Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools and practices

Experience implementing observability solutions including logging, monitoring, alerting, and distributed tracing

Onsite Requirement This position is intended to be onsite, now or in the near future. Associates will have regular work hours, including full days in the office three or more days a week. The manager will set the work schedule for this position, including in-office expectations. Regions will not provide relocation assistance for this position, and relocation would be at your expense. This position must be within a reasonable driving distance to Birmingham, AL or Charlotte, NC. Exceptions to the geographic location requirement may be made for current Regions associates who work remotely.

Compensation Details Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.

Incentive Pay Plans:

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary incentive plan. Employees are eligible to receive a discretionary award based on individual, business, and/or company performance. Opportunity to participate in the Long Term Incentive Plan.
