Position Summary As an Engineering Design Lead, you will be responsible for leading the engineering design, NEC Code, constructability, and prefab building information modeling (BIM) services for Company projects, performing the design of complex systems, and selecting equipment and systems components for major projects or several smaller but complex projects within the discipline. This role works closely with project managers, BIM specialists, designers, design engineers and others to develop and facilitate planning strategies for each project.

Day in the Life
Leads constructability and prefab strategies on assigned projects from inception through completion, performing 2D and 3D drafting tasks to support electrical construction initiatives, utilizing Autodesk and other standard Company software.
Acts as the primary constructability and QA/QC source for the team to ensure deliverables are high quality and meet company standards.
Performs fundamental engineering functions including lighting & power design, single line designs, panel schedules, load calculations, and Design Master Electrical; organizes construction drawings and responds to construction administration items.
Coordinates planning with architects, structural, civil, and mechanical engineers.
Attends BIM coordination meetings, applies changes as needed, and escalates cost and scheduling issues to the manager. Supports BIM, modeling, prefab, technologies, and planning standards; provides recommendations for improvements.
Gathers information from other design disciplines to move forward with electrical designs on schedule; surveys job sites as needed for scope and quality.
Monitors design activities of other professionals, provides coaching, training, and mentoring; delivers regular performance feedback.
Coordinates and reviews design and drawing work, manages workload to complete documents on schedule.
Consults with vendors and reviews project shop drawings for design accuracy and contract requirements; collaborates with project managers to develop engineered construction installation drawings.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree or equivalent in electrical engineering, electrical design, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum 8-9 years of BIM modeling experience and electrical design experience; ability to work independently on assigned projects. Minimum 5 years of field foreman experience preferred.
Journeyman or Master Electrician License helpful.
Experience in electrical power distribution, lighting, and installation; knowledge of NEC and state/city codes preferred.
Proficiency with Revit, Navisworks, AEC, ACC, Autodesk, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office; experience with SKM and ETAP and/or Design Master Electrical for engineering track positions.
Ability to read and interpret electrical contracts, plans, drawings, and specifications; strong knowledge of the National Electric Code.
Capable of managing multiple projects and supporting design leadership while maintaining BIM modeling protocols.
Strong problem-solving, time management, and communication skills; ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Leadership, listening, interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills; strong collaboration and training abilities.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required.
Salary Range
$100,000 - 140,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
