Overview The Program Director is responsible for the administration and leadership of the CLETA program, overseeing faculty and all aspects of the program. The position reports to the Dean of Allied Health, Public Safety, Wellness and Outdoor Studies and works with faculty, campus leaders, and external partners to ensure program quality, alignment with the college mission, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Articulate CLETA offerings with the college mission, vision, strategic plan, and institutional learning outcomes, and comply with state and national standards.

Manage budget, hiring and support of faculty; coordinate program accreditation applications/renewals and program activity reporting.

Lead program advisory committee meetings; engage in outreach, marketing, recruitment, and program assessment.

Provide instructional and administrative leadership across the program areas college-wide; assist with recruiting, contracting, orientations, and evaluations of instructors.

Develop and maintain schedules, curriculum updates, and catalog updates; ensure consistency of curricular and learning outcomes; manage program budgets and resources.

Coordinate scheduling of curriculum, including lectures, labs, and clinical/internships; ensure compliance with POST and other regulatory requirements.

Ensure facilities, equipment, and site approvals; monitor risk management practices in conjunction with the Risk Management office; develop contingency plans for emergencies in instructional spaces.

Attend professional conferences and meetings; prepare internal/external reports to maintain accreditation and program standards; pursue outside funding opportunities as appropriate.

Supervise and mentor subordinate staff; oversee risk management practices; collaborate with external agencies as needed.

Lead and participate in program advisory committees, community relations, and outreach activities; develop partnerships with local law enforcement and public safety organizations.

Develop marketing and recruiting plans; promote the academy to high school students and community organizations; support student experience through recruitment, advising, internships, and placement opportunities.

Coordinate curriculum and materials; assist faculty with learning materials; manage credentialing and scheduling; serve as academic advisor for POST certification and related degrees.

Support college-wide initiatives and committees; participate in assessment, program review, and student success activities.

Maintain inventory and upkeep of education supplies, equipment, and manuals; develop articulation agreements and complete faculty credentialing.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position; candidates must be credentialed to teach in the program or eligible to be credentialed. Typical qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Public Safety, Public Administration, Law Enforcement or related fields and two years (4,000 hours) of verifiable work experience within the last seven years, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

One year of full-time teaching experience or equivalent part-time experience.

Preferred: Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science, Public Safety, Public Administration, or related fields; higher education teaching and administration experience; community college teaching experience in law enforcement disciplines; and public safety/law enforcement management experience.

Special Skills: Colorado POST certification or completion within the first 6 months; POST supervisory experience and instructor certification in related areas preferred; valid Colorado driver’s license.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.

Compensation and Benefits Hiring range: $109,870.73 – $122,078.59 annual salary, depending on education and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement contribution, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, mental health resources, and more. Salary is set in accordance with the college’s compensation model and applicable laws.

Position anticipated to close on September 1, 2025, or until filled.

Working Conditions and Other Details

Travel within and outside the district; work outside standard hours including evenings and weekends; valid Colorado driver’s license required.

Constant sitting, occasional walking/standing, and light lifting up to 50 lbs; extensive computer use; occasional travel by vehicle.

Background check and motor vehicle records review required; adherence to safety and compliance policies.
