Founded in 2017, Fishtails Animal Rescue (FAR) is a foster-based 501(c)3 organization committed to the rescue and rehabilitation of the at-risk, stray, and shelter animals of Philadelphia.
Fishtails Animal Rescue has begun a strategic plan, including forming a board of directors to guide the strategic direction and assist in fundraising for the organization. We are seeking 4 additional board members, ideally made up of one fundraising or development professional, a non profit lawyer, someone with experience in financials (CFO/CPA etc.) who is familiar with non profits, and an event planning professional. The financial person should be comfortable assuming the role of treasurer once fully up to speed. We are hoping a fundraising individual will stand up a fundraising committee to help us more strategically fundraise with annual donor campaigns and local partnerships (CRM and database provided, internal ops volunteers can run campaigns). The event planning professional should be comfortable serving as Chair of the Event Planning Committee. We are also looking for folks interested in assuming executive roles to take over for interim members within the next year. Board members will be asked to donate $500 to the organization as yearly dues. If you bring in a sponsor or annual donor at the $1000 these dues can be waived. The FAR Board is a working board, and members are expected to fulfill membership and committee duties regularly to further the work of the organization. The expectations in detail are as follows: FAR Board Member - Officer Roles President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary Fulfill the role specific duties detailed in the FAR bylaws Present at 90% of meetings (4 per year + more ad-hoc as necessary) to ensure we have a quorum of members present and to further matters of the board Prepared in advance with any materials distributed pre-board meeting to inform the agenda and any votes taken at the board meetings Take a leadership role to mentor other board members, and ensure that board matters are moved along swiftly and effectively. Consider and act on the best interests of the organization and board, putting personal matters and feelings aside. Be the chair/vice chair /member of the committees at minimum as stipulated in the by-laws:
President - Chair of Executive Committee, Member of Finance Committee - Ex-Officio on all other committees (present as requested and needed by committee chair) Vice President - Vice Chair of Executive Committee, Member of the Planning Committee Treasurer - Chair of the Finance Committee, Member of the Executive Committee Secretary - Chair of the Nominating Committee, Member of the Executive Committee
