Overview
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) reports directly to the Tribal Chairperson, under the direction of the Tribal Council. The CEO is responsible for the effective and efficient administration of the overall tribal operations and serves as the principal operating executive for implementing Tribal policies and directives. The CEO directs and oversees the development of all programs, services, activities, plans, and budgets for the Tribe. The CEO identifies needs and areas for improvement and supports policy and procedure development to address those needs. The CEO develops and implements Tribal goals and objectives, program services, economic development, and maintains compliance with applicable regulations. The CEO provides supervision and leadership to directors, program managers, program coordinators, and management staff to ensure the efficient and effective operations of the Tribe and to accomplish directives, strategic initiatives, goals, and objectives.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to manage and perform with a high degree of autonomy, organization, adaptability, discretion, and professional judgement. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking with large and small groups of different managerial, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and educational backgrounds. Must be willing to travel as needed. Must be able to demonstrate respect for and awareness of Native American customs, traditions, and socioeconomic needs. Must be able to maintain complete confidentiality.
Requirements
General Requirements: Must be insurable through the Tribe’s vehicle insurance required. Must pass a criminal and fingerprint background check according to P.L. 101-630 standards required. Must pass a pre-employment alcohol/drug screening required.
Education & Experience
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or related field required. Fifteen (15) years’ experience in operations management, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role. Eight (8) years’ experience working in a Tribal organization preferred.
License & Certification
Must possess, maintain, and provide proof of a valid Driver’s License (required).
