The ESS Paraprofessional provides instructional and behavioral support to students with exceptional needs under the direction of an ESS Teacher and school administration. This role assists in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), promotes inclusion, and helps ensure students receive the support needed to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Responsibilities

Assist ESS teachers in implementing instructional activities, accommodations, and modifications for students with disabilities. Support students individually or in small groups in academic, behavioral, and social-emotional skills. Monitor and assist students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, and other school routines. Reinforce classroom expectations and implement behavior intervention plans as directed. Help prepare instructional materials, organize resources, and maintain student records as directed by the teacher. Provide support during assessments and testing accommodations. Assist students with personal care needs, mobility, or adaptive equipment (if required by their IEP). Promote student independence and inclusion in the general education environment. Supervise students to ensure safety at all times. Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and administrators about student progress and concerns. Maintain confidentiality and follow all state, federal, and district guidelines related to special education. Performs other duties that may be required. Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or higher preferred. Completion of state-mandated paraprofessional certification or equivalent (if required). Experience working with children or students with disabilities preferred. Knowledge of child development, instructional strategies, and behavior management. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Patience, flexibility, and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team. Physical Demands

Must be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs. Ability to assist students with personal care, mobility, or physical activities as needed. Requires stamina and the ability to remain patient and calm in high-energy environments. Work performed in classrooms, resource rooms, playgrounds, and school facilities. May require supporting students in both general and special education settings. Occasional lifting or physical assistance may be required for students with mobility needs.
