Position Information: UC Riverside's Dining and Hospitality Services is recruiting for an Events Specialist. The full salary range for the Events Specialist is $27.63 - $47.56 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $37.60 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
The Events Specialist in the Hospitality Services department is responsible for coordinating events, including special events, meetings, and summer conferences, in Housing and Dining facilities. The Events Specialist will work alongside other coordinators in the Hospitality department to manage the intake and assignment of events. The Events Specialist will communicate directly with both internal and external clients to identify their needs and independently make recommendations, provide proposals, and complete coordination details. Event coordination includes, but is not limited to, the coordination of the following: facility rentals, catering orders, equipment/furniture/decor rentals, floral orders, AV rentals/technicians, diagrams, event flow, parking, lodging for summer conferences, etc. The Events Specialist is responsible for ensuring the proper delivery of outstanding services to the University community, outside clients, and guests.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Minimum Requirements
Working knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of event planning and production and public relations. Working organizational skills, including skill in effectively coordinating and organizing multiple details. Excellent organizational abilities appropriate to effective calendar management and student and/or volunteer scheduling. Good interpersonal communication skills and political acumen, including skill in effectively representing the campus, medical center or other university organization to its publics. Good judgment and effective decision-making and problem resolution skills, including skill to recognize and deal effectively and appropriately with real and potential problem areas, including skill to determine the issues/problems that need to be brought to the attention of higher level staff and/or management. Ability to work in diverse groups, including but not limited to students, staff, faculty, general public, production personnel, technical operators and performing artists. Ability to work professionally under pressure and under tight deadlines; ensuring excellent customer service support.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of the campus, its programs, policies, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
