Maintenance Technician (Plastics Manufacturing)
Position Summary:
Rauh Polymers is seeking a full-time, hands-on Maintenance Technician to join our team in Akron, Ohio. This vital role is responsible for the direct repair, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical machines and equipment used in our plastics manufacturing and extrusion processes. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong industrial electrical knowledge and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on plastics manufacturing and extrusion machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and execute hands-on repairs for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components.
Respond promptly to and efficiently resolve emergency breakdowns to minimize production interruptions.
Read and accurately interpret blueprints, schematics (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic), and equipment manuals.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
Strictly adhere to all company safety protocols and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
Operate a tow motor and/or semi-truck (if applicable and licensed) for moving equipment or materials within the facility.
Collaborate effectively with production teams to identify and resolve recurring equipment issues and optimize machine performance.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 3-5+ years of verifiable experience in an industrial maintenance role.
Strong industrial electrical knowledge, including troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems and panels.
Proven mechanical aptitude and experience performing hands-on repairs on manufacturing equipment.
Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with willingness to work outside of normal hours (overtime or off-shifts) for critical repairs affecting manufacturing production if necessary.
Must be willing to follow all safety protocols rigorously.
Valid driver's license.
Qualifications (Plus):
Direct experience in the plastics manufacturing or extrusion industry.
Experience driving a tow motor and/or semi.
Familiarity with industrial instrumentation (transmitters, valves, actuators, etc.).
Relevant certifications (e.g., electrical, mechanical, hydraulics).
Work Environment:
This position operates within a dynamic manufacturing plant environment. It requires physical dexterity, the ability to stand for extended periods, frequent bending, stooping, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and working in various industrial conditions. Adherence to safety regulations is paramount.
