This role is pivotal in fostering local asset ownership and promoting wealth creation within communities of color. As the leader of this department, you will set the strategic direction and drive the success of initiatives focused on commercial real estate lending, underwriting, deal structuring, and risk mitigation. You will also act as the chief credit officer, overseeing credit and risk management while nurturing a culture of collaboration and inclusivity. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 10 years’ experience in managing commercial real estate lending, ideally in settings like CDFIs or nonprofit lenders. You should be a strategic thinker capable of translating community needs into actionable lending opportunities while demonstrating a strong commitment to racial and economic equity. Experience in developing credit policies, assessing credit risks, and a profound understanding of the intersection of finance and social justice are crucial. The perfect candidate will also have a proven history of effective staff management and relationship cultivation.
