This position is ideal for individuals looking to work in a dynamic and essential role within the logging industry. As a Log Scale Operator, you will be responsible for various tasks in the scale house, including operating heavy equipment and ensuring the safe and efficient scaling of logs. Key Responsibilities: Swiftly process log and residual trucks through scales and the ticketing system. Utilize basic computer skills for tasks such as email and data entry in software like Word and Excel. Guide log truck and residual truck drivers on safety protocols and operational procedures at the mill site. Maintain the scale and scale house, ensuring cleanliness and operational efficiency; ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Inspect logs to verify quality specifications and make appropriate deductions for non-compliance. Execute log roll-outs for specification compliance verification. Operate heavy machinery, including a knuckle-boom log loader, skid steer, and front-end loader. Adhere to additional duties as assigned by your supervisor. Requirements: Commitment to following safety policies and procedures. High School Diploma or GED preferred. Familiarity with log defects and their implications for mill operations. Ability to thrive in various working conditions, including hot, cold, dusty, and noisy environments. Physical stamina to bend, twist, lift, climb, and stand throughout the shift. Effective communication skills to support a collaborative team culture. Availability to work on holidays and weekends as required. Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and physical is needed. Self-motivated and capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision. Preferred six months of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or logging setting. Basic math skills, including standard arithmetic and measurement units.
