Position Details
- Driver pay is $1300 minimum weekly (Must meet minimum weekly requirements, will be discussed during interview)
- Drivers can earn $65,000 or more per year
- Shift is Monday to Friday with a 3:00am – 6:00am dispatch time
Position Purpose
The Driver - SCM is responsible for driving a tractor-trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and food-related products to customers in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Responsibilities
- Performs all required safety checks (pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations; inspects equipment to meet company safety standards.
- Reports safety issues and repairs required; follows all DOT regulations and company safety guidelines.
- Immediately reports safety hazards; inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
- Performs count checks of items and checks customer invoices for loaded products.
- Completes required paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Moves tractor to loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed.
- Drives to and delivers customer orders according to the predetermined route schedule; unloads products and transports to designated storage areas.
- Performs damage checks, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders per policy.
- Verifies delivery with customer and obtains proper signatures; collects payments where required; loads returns and secures trailer.
- Ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are secured.
- Unloads damaged goods and returns; performs end-of-shift duties and paperwork; keeps areas clean.
- Performs daily hours of service logs per Federal DOT and company requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
- 12+ months commercial tractor/trailer experience
- Valid CDL-A; must be 21+ years of age
- Meet state licensing/certification requirements (where applicable)
- Clean MVR for past 3 years
- Pass post-offer drug test and road test
- Current DOT Health Card or ability to secure one
- Able to hand-lift and use equipment to move freight (10-35 lbs; up to 60-90 lbs depending on location)
