Intermediate Pipefitter

Description: Join our team as an Intermediate Pipefitter and take the next step in your career! In this role, you will play a crucial part in laying out, installing, and maintaining essential piping systems aboard our ships. You will work with various systems including steam heat, hot water, hydraulics, air pressure, and oil lines, using blueprints to guide your work. Your responsibilities will include: Planning and executing the layout of pipe sections while adhering to specifications. Cuts and bores holes in bulkheads and decks for effective pipe installation. Operating shop machines for cutting and threading pipe and accompanying fittings. Packing pipes with sand to prevent distortion and bending pipes to specified shapes. Connecting pipes to fixtures such as radiators, pumps, and tanks with precision. Conducting repairs, packing, and adjusting valves as needed. Testing installed systems for leaks and ensuring they meet required specifications using hydrostatic and other pressure test equipment. A keen understanding of blueprints and specifications is necessary for success in this role. Supervision:

You will work under immediate supervision and typically report to a supervisor or manager. Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with 2-4 years of experience in the field or a related area. Requirements: Lifting Requirements:

Able to push or pull up to 50 pounds with assistance. Safety Requirements:
