Job Description
The Data Specialist will serve as a key member of our professional staff, in partnership with our Superintendent, Data Analyst, and Director of Assessment, to accurately collect and interpret pertinent statistical information reflective of all WCPA schools. They will compile, organize, study, analyze and interpret statistical data relating to our K-12 operations; highlight relevant trends; evaluate accuracy and effectiveness of statistical methodologies used; present technical statistical analysis and results in easy to digest formats to the administration (graphs, charts, tables, presentations); plan data collection methods for specific projects and determine (applicable variables) the types and sizes of sample groups to be used; prepare and structure data warehouses for storing data; and select/devise appropriate sampling techniques for required surveys and data collection. More specifically, they will perform the following tasks on a routine and ongoing basis.
Data Management
Devise, manage, and improve school data systems in line with appropriate statistical methodologies for reporting, analysis, and visualization, establishing protocols for collection, verification, and managing data systems
Ensure that organization-wide data management aligns with applicable statistical methodology, as well as legal and regulatory guidelines
Manage current statistical data and assessment systems (Aeries, NWEA, Illuminate, Edulastic, DIBELS) on the backend and for data verification, cleaning, and reporting features
Data Analysis
Compile, organize, study, and analyze volumes of internal and external statistical information and data related to key operational objectives
Produce actionable data insights for school leaders, operational leaders, and teams through dashboards, visualizations, ad hoc reports, and analysis
Produce weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports aligned to school accountability metrics, performance dashboards, compliance reporting, and public sharing of data
Establish and manage data dashboards for the executive team, school principals, directors, operational leaders, and program leaders
Provide the executive team with performance data and statistical analysis that is aligned to annual goals and department accountability structures
Implement statistical models to monitor relevant key performance indicators to track and measure outcomes and impact
Data Reporting
Prepare and verify school data reports to the authorizer, state, and federal programs
Developing and submitting compliance-related data reports
Data Systems Development
Devise and improve the school’s data and assessment systems
Produce organizational protocols for consistent data reporting, verification, management, and analysis across all departments (academics and operations)
Develop and manage organizational protocols for data collection, curation, analysis, and reporting; actively monitor state guidelines/policy
Working in collaboration with the school assessment team to ensure proper administration of student assessments based on sound statistical methodology, primarily focused on SIS updates, roster verification, and standards processes for systems to produce valid and reliable results for analysis
Collaboration with the operations team to collect and analyze organizational data for compliance reporting, performance dashboards, accountability systems, as well as external reports.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, and 3+ years’ experience.
Experience in using Business Intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI, Qlik Sense) -- gathering and interpreting data from multiple sources
At least three years of experience working in data analysis across a school-based or education setting
Expertise in a variety of data analytics, visualization, and database software (Excel, Tableau, Python, Access, etc.)
Previous experience managing and administering student information and assessment systems
Experience in preparing data reports and building dashboards
Experience managing school compliance reports and data verification processes
Self-reflective individual who is committed to ongoing learning and growth
Familiarity with PowerSchool, Aeries, eSchoolPlus, or other student information systems and data visualization tools, a plus.
Understanding and experience of the data ETL process is a plus.
Knowledge of the K-12 education field, including familiarity with current student assessment and accountability practices (preferred).
Ability to understand the strengths, weaknesses, and limitations of given data sets or metrics.
Strong ability/understanding of MYSQL/Oracle SQL Developer -- can design complex query statements to obtain data.

Pay Range: $68,640.00 - $75,000.00. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience. **
