Job Description The Kern County Bar Association is seeking a dynamic and service-oriented individual to serve as the
Outreach and Engagement Coordinator . This position is vital to advancing the mission of our Bar Association by increasing attorney involvement, expanding awareness of our public-facing programs, and fostering strong connections with the legal community and the public. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with a passion for community engagement, attorney outreach, and program promotion. This role requires someone who can take initiative, build relationships, and represent the organization at both professional and public events. Key Responsibilities: Attorney Recruitment & Membership Engagement: Actively recruit attorneys to participate in our
Dependency
and
Indigent Defense Panel (IDP)
programs. Promote
Bar Association membership
to attorneys throughout the county, emphasizing benefits and involvement opportunities. Serve as the primary contact for prospective members and program participants.
Program Promotion & Support: Market and increase awareness of our
Fee Arbitration Program . Promote the
Attorney Referral Service
and assist in managing attorney participation and client inquiries. Represent and advocate for the organizations
Charitable Foundation
and its community impact.
Community & Sponsor Engagement: Manage and cultivate relationships with
sustaining sponsors
, including outreach, renewals, and recognition. Coordinate and represent the Bar Association at
community events
, legal clinics, and public forums to build brand presence and public goodwill.
Communications & Outreach: Collaborate on and contribute to
social media campaigns
, newsletters, and other digital and print outreach materials. Work closely with internal teams to develop promotional strategies and unified messaging across platforms.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Legal Studies, or a related field. Prior experience in attorney recruitment, nonprofit program coordination, or bar association work is highly desirable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to multitask, manage relationships, and take initiative. Proficiency in social media, email marketing, and CRM/database management is a plus. Comfort with public speaking and community-facing roles.
