Description
Qualifications: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger and School Bus (P & S) Endorsements Wayne RESA School Bus Safety Education Card Satisfactory Completion of Background Check Prior experience as a school bus driver preferred Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and safety procedures Ability to work with children and maintain discipline on the bus Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work up to 5 hours per day Position Description:
As a Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences School Bus Driver, you will share a commitment to ensuring that every child is transported safely to and from school, home, and special events such as field trips.
Terms of Employment:
Part time, up to 25 hours per week

Key Responsibilities
Safely operate a school bus and transport students to and from school and other educational or recreational activities following a scheduled route and timetable Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during transport, including assisting students in boarding and exiting the bus and maintaining order among students while on the bus Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, including checking the tires, brakes, lights, fuel, and oil levels, and report any issues or concerns to the transportation supervisor Handle emergencies or unforeseen situations calmly and effectively, including administering basic first aid if necessary, and following established emergency procedures Adhere to all traffic and safety regulations as well as state and federal laws governing the operation of a school bus Maintain a professional relationship with supervisors, staff, parents, students and the public Present a professional and courteous demeanor at all times, serving as a positive role model for students and demonstrating respect for diversity and inclusivity Possess physical ability to perform all required work Work independently and in teams to complete job duties and assignments in a timely manner
