Our primary function is to assist individuals with housing problems such as discrimination, mortgage foreclosure & delinquency, rental issues including repairs, deposits, privacy, dispute resolution, home buyer education, post purchase education and reverse mortgages. Project Sentinel Court Mediation Programs are currently accepting applications for volunteer mediators for the Santa Clara County Court Mediation Programs, specifically the Unlawful Detainer, Civil Harassment and Small Claims Courts located in Downtown San Jose, California. Project Sentinel offers day-of-court and remote mediation free of charge to litigants in order to resolve their cases prior to their trial. Volunteers arrive to court on litigant's day of trial and the court refers cases to attempt voluntary and confidential mediation in order to settle their cases. Minimum Requirements:
Mediators who have completed the 40-hour basic mediation training (or plan to complete one soon) and who are willing to volunteer time to serve the courts. Once volunteers join our panels, additional training for court-specific matters will be provided, and there will also be opportunities for observation and co-mediation so that volunteers can gain necessary experience and training.
