Medical Assistant Gastroenterology Clinic
Join a collaborative and patient-focused outpatient Gastroenterology clinic. We're seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to support our clinical team in delivering high-quality care. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with flexible scheduling and a supportive work environment that values innovation and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: Collect and label lab specimens in accordance with hospital protocols Support nurses and physicians during GI procedures such as endoscopies and colonoscopies Prepare patients and equipment for diagnostic procedures Retrieve necessary supplies and equipment for GI exams Document clinical findings and complete hospital forms accurately Monitor and record vital signs, weight, and other patient metrics Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers Perform follow-up tasks as directed by clinical staff Essential Skills: Medical assisting and patient care experience Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR), especially Epic Prior authorization processing Experience working with high-touch patient populations (e.g., Pain Management, Behavioral Health, GI) Ability to room 1520 patients per day Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Completion of a Medical Assistant Program American Heart Association BLS certification Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant At least 1 year of prior authorization experience 2+ years working with Electronic Medical Records Previous experience in gastroenterology or a related specialty (preferred) Bilingual in Spanish (preferred) Work Environment: You'll be part of a close-knit team in a family-like atmosphere with strong peer support and approachable leadership.
