To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus with the possibility of partial remote work depending on business needs.

Job Summary: Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is seeking a full-time Information Security Administrator Principal. This position works within the Information Technology Services (ITS) division and reports to the CIO/AVP of ITS. The role acts as the lead technical analyst and campus expert for Information Security to protect information systems assets from unauthorized access or destruction.

Key Responsibilities

Security Implementation:

Design and implement security hardware and software.

Guidance and Consultation:

Provide guidance for the protection of information systems assets to other functional units.

Training and Awareness:

Conduct consultation and training on security topics for campus stakeholders; promote awareness of information security best practices and educate on security policies.

Monitoring and Assessment:

Monitor campus IT infrastructure and systems; perform security monitoring, assessments, audits, and remediation recommendations.

Policy Development:

Review, recommend, and draft policies, procedures, standards, services, and security products in line with SCC and MCCCD policy and information security best practices.

Essential Functions

40% - Conduct routine analysis and security control monitoring/management of campus computing environment and systems to identify vulnerabilities; monitor network activity and infrastructure (firewalls, IDS, wireless, VPN, accounts); use industry-standard security tools; coordinate with Network and System teams.

20% - Work with District IT security team and partners to ensure compliance with security directives; serve as campus IT contact for audits, incidents remediation/escalation, risk assessments, and vendor collaboration.

15% - Create and update IT process documentation; participate in project planning and security planning for the college.

10% - Incident Response: assist in incident remediation; collect information for investigations; secure systems for forensic examination; may perform forensic work.

15% - Analyze technology practices to identify weaknesses, collaborate with campus staff to mitigate data disclosures; perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology, information security, computer science, cybersecurity, network security, or a related field and five (5) years of technical experience in the support of networks, systems and technology security.

OR

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology or related field and two (2) years of technical experience planning/overseeing IT initiatives such as data security, systems development or network design with related technologies.

OR

An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or certifications sufficient to perform the essential duties; technical certifications may substitute for education/experience. Substitution amounts depend on certification duration and relevance to business needs.

Desired Qualifications

Current security certification (e.g., CISSP, CC, CCSP, SSCP, CCNA Security) or other relevant certifications.

Two (2) years of experience managing and securing systems and data in an enterprise IT organization.

Two (2) years of experience managing and securing servers, OS, virtual environments, and applications in an enterprise IT organization.

Two (2) years of experience leading enterprise security efforts in complex, regulated environments.

Two (2) years of experience using vulnerability scanners, network analyzers, IDS to mitigate risks.

Two years of experience creating and maintaining IT security policies and procedures.

Experience working with vendors and outside partners.

Special Working Conditions Travel to campus for interviews is at the candidate’s expense. May be required to work evenings and weekends. May require prolonged sitting and computer use. May lift up to 25 lbs. MCCCD does not sponsor work visas.
