Overview The Manager serves as JetBlue’s day-to-day representative to Congress, building and enhancing relationships with Senators, Representatives and their staffs in Washington, DC as well as key officials in state and district offices. In this role, the Manager tracks and engages on potential changes in legislation, regulation or rules affecting JetBlue’s operations and ensures that elected officials understand JetBlue’s corporate goals, plans and issues of concern. Working closely with internal and external partners, the Manager will actively participate in industry policy development and advocacy on federal issues. This Crewmember must be able to add value to broad Government Affairs efforts, work in a fast-paced environment and reflect the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun.

Build and maintain relationships with key member offices and committee staffs in the U.S. House and Senate, engaging with decision makers and personalizing JetBlue with our relevant delegations and key policy leaders

Track legislative and regulatory proposals of interest, ensuring JetBlue’s views are heard

Advocate for and persuasively communicate JetBlue’s views on various issues to elected officials, their staffs, and other audiences

Represent JetBlue at industry meetings and other Washington events and in BlueCities as needed

Work collaboratively with relevant trade associations and other industry officials (consistent with all applicable antitrust rules) on public policy objectives

Coordinate with and maximize value of outside lobbyists and other consultants hired to support JetBlue’s government affairs efforts in Washington and in relevant states

Work with partners inside and outside JetBlue to support strategic projects across our network

Support management of the JetBlue Airways Corporation Crewmember Good Government Fund (JetBlue PAC) by developing strategy and representing JetBlue PAC at campaign fundraising events

As a member of the Government Affairs team, support state and local government affairs efforts and partner on projects and communicate issues to stakeholders both within and outside the airline

Work collaboratively with other company leaders where government organizations intersect with corporate goals and projects

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience

Five (5) years work experience in government, or political and government affairs

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple issues and tasks, and the ability to work reliably on complex projects with tight deadlines

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

Must be very articulate and able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing

Excellent organization and time management skills

Available for occasional overnight travel (20%)

In possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States

Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test

Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

Work experience on the staff of a US Senator, Representative, or congressional committee

Clear understanding of the laws, regulations and rules governing congressional lobbying

Leadership and advocacy skills and excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills

Ability to operate flexibility to meet evolving organization priorities, and operate in diverse cultures and environments

An ability to operate comfortably and lead JetBlue’s priorities through uncertainty and ambiguity

A proven ability to work collaboratively and thoughtfully as part of a committed, integrated team

Well-organized with exceptional attention to detail

Adaptable and flexible with the ability to meet evolving priorities

Ability to solve problems, work independently and excel in a high-performance culture

Regular attendance and punctuality

Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice

Able to maintain a professional appearance

When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun

Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System

Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards

Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems or Safety Action Report (SAR))

Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls

Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
