Diagnostic Imaging Specialist Role The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist will thrive in a People-First Environment, making healthcare better by delivering personalized, professional, and quality patient care in diagnostic x-ray examinations and transportation of patients to and from Imaging Services.
About the Job As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will explain diagnostic x-ray procedures to patients and/or family members in a thorough and professional manner. You will perform diagnostic x-ray examinations, including routine, fluoroscopic, portable, and surgical procedures, ensuring appropriate radiographic parameters are utilized, providing physicians with quality radiographic images.
Responsibilities: Assist in delivering high-quality patient care in diagnostic x-ray examinations.
Explain diagnostic x-ray procedures to patients and/or family members.
Perform diagnostic x-ray examinations, including routine, fluoroscopic, portable, and surgical procedures.
Ensure accurate and precise radiographic parameters are utilized.
Document digital images with radiographic identification markers.
Provide nursing care to patients, ensuring they are comfortable in the department.
Enter and retrieve patient information from the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) and Hospital Information System.
Prepare and maintain department paperwork, verifying accuracy of information.
Adhere to radiation safety practices, following the concept of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
Registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology (R).
Licensed by the state as a General Medical Radiologic Technologist (GMRT).
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Previous employment as a Radiology Technologist.
