Application Engineer
Ziegler CAT has an opening for an Application Engineer in the OEM division. This key position will provide engineering support to OEM customers and Ziegler Power Systems Sales Personnel. This is a fast paced position with a broad scope of responsibility and autonomy while you work with customers to design CAT engines into their chassis. This process requires initiative and creativity as you work directly with our customers engineering team to make every installation a success. Responsibilities include: meeting with customers to define total requirements, working directly with the customer's engineering personnel to analyze their power systems needs and assist them in finding the most efficient product solution, compiling technical data required for our customers to make informed decisions on whether to purchase our engines or not, participating in technical sales calls and presentations, acting as key negotiator on all commercial aspects of assigned accounts, developing or packaging 3D drawing packages of the engine and related components recommended for each customer, providing on-site field support to OEM customers to assist with the integration of our engine, completing field audits and testing of installed engine installations in OEM equipment, managing customer engine inventory, forecasts and engine orders, and documenting the engine and component specifications required by individual customers. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience with HS diploma/GED, 2 years industry-related experience preferred, 1 year sales experience preferred, acceptable driving record and valid driver's license required, strong customer service and communication skills, strong PC knowledge with MS Office experience, strong electrical and mechanical aptitude. Electrical power, electrician, generator or reciprocating engine experience desired. Personal characteristics: customer focus, problem solving, attention to detail, sociability, achievement orientation. Travel: up to 25% travel. Minimum physical requirements: standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing. Working conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be moderate at times. The total compensation (base plus incentive) for this position is $109,100.00 to $163,600.00. Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, and education.
