Who We Are:
Network Telecommunications Services: Responsible for connectivity and communications needs for the Institute. This includes network administration of routing, switching, unified communications, wireless, ISP connectivity, data centers and telecom infrastructure including inside/outside plant.
Objectives of this Role:
Proficient with fiber and copper cabling. Develop depth in our Telecommunications inside/outside plant management capabilities. Institute Computer data centers and rack management designs to handle ongoing moves, adds, changes and deletions (MACD) of network, server, voice and audio visual equipment and required cable infrastructure needs. Potential growth of the position into software configuration aspects of network, server, phone system and audio visual deployment. Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
Installation of network, server, voice and audio visual equipment in Computer Data Centers and telecommunications closets throughout the campus. Management of Fiber optic and copper cabling requirements to support ongoing network and telecommunications operations. Documentation of network, telecom, fiber and copper moves, adds, changes and deletions (MACD) throughout the campus. Execute preventative maintenance on data centers, IDFs and manholes throughout the campus. Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Training and/or certifications in the installation and troubleshooting of fiber and copper cables is a plus. 10 years: Experience as a Telecommunications Technician. Must have experience as an estimator for telecommunications projects, cable splicing, fiber and copper installation, and project management. 5 years: Experience deploying, replacing and troubleshooting critical network and server equipment in a 24/7 data center. Must have experience dealing with all physical requirements of network equipment, including rack management, cabling, UPS, power and cooling. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
