The
Mortgage Lending Compliance Attorney
is responsible for providing legal counsel and regulatory compliance support related to mortgage lending activities. This role ensures the organization's mortgage products, policies, procedures, and practices adhere to all applicable federal and state laws, including but not limited to TILA, RESPA, ECOA, HMDA, FCRA, and TRID. The attorney serves as a subject matter expert, advising internal stakeholders and mitigating risk through proactive compliance strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations related to mortgage lending, including but not limited to:
Truth in Lending Act (TILA) Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) Ability-to-Repay (ATR) / Qualified Mortgage (QM) and Non-Qualified Mortgage (Non-QM) rules Dodd-Frank Act and TRID guidelines
Interpret and provide guidance on regulatory changes impacting mortgage lending operations. Assist in implementing necessary changes to policies, procedures, and systems. Identify legal and regulatory risks and propose strategies to mitigate them. Work closely with compliance, risk management, and internal audit teams. Draft, review, and revise lending policies, procedures, disclosures, and forms to ensure legal and regulatory compliance. Provide legal advice and support on day-to-day operations. Assist in preparing for and responding to regulatory examinations, internal audits, and external reviews. Review and negotiate contracts with vendors related to mortgage lending operations to ensure regulatory compliance. Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. 5+ years of legal experience with a focus on mortgage lending and consumer finance compliance. Strong understanding of mortgage lending processes, products, and relevant regulatory frameworks. Experience working in a financial institution, mortgage company, law firm, or regulatory agency. Excellent legal research, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Experience working with regulatory agencies (e.g., CFPB, OCC, FDIC, state regulators) is a plus. Why Join CAKE Mortgage?

$140,000.00 to $210,000.00
