Level IV Data Center Technician
Microsoft continues to scale its data center infrastructure to meet the demands of high-capacity networking, including ongoing 400G deployments and planning for 800G upgrades across the Phoenix Data Center District. As a Level IV Data Center Technician, you will serve as a senior technical resource, responsible for advanced troubleshooting, network support, and mentoring junior technicians. This role requires deep hands-on experience in data center operations, break-fix workflows, and network infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on reliability, precision, and leadership. Key Responsibilities
Advanced Technical Support Lead break-fix efforts across multiple data center sites, managing and resolving complex hardware and network issues. Own and manage ticket queues, ensuring timely resolution and documentation of incidents and service requests. Network Infrastructure Expertise Support and troubleshoot high-speed network deployments (400G and 800G), including fiber optics, transceivers, and routing hardware. Collaborate with network engineers to validate configurations, test throughput, and ensure optimal performance. Hardware & Cabling Leadership Oversee installation and maintenance of servers, switches, routers, and other critical infrastructure. Ensure structured cabling standards are met, including fiber and copper terminations, labeling, and documentation. Mentorship & Training Provide guidance and training to Level IIII technicians, fostering technical growth and operational excellence. Review and improve SOPs, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the data center team. Operational Excellence Maintain high standards for uptime, safety, and compliance with Microsoft's operational protocols. Participate in audits, capacity planning, and infrastructure reviews to support long-term scalability. Qualifications
Required: 5+ years of hands-on experience in data center operations, including hardware deployment and troubleshooting. Proven experience managing break-fix workflows and working within a ticketing system (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy). Strong understanding of networking fundamentals; Network+ certification or equivalent experience required. Preferred: Actively pursuing or holding a Cisco CCNA or higher-level networking certification. Experience with hyperscale data center environments and high-capacity network technologies (400G/800G). Familiarity with DWDM, structured cabling standards, and fiber optic testing tools. Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working in high-density server environments and confined spaces. Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends as needed. Pay and Benefits
