Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Launch and Missile Defense Systems provides an excellent opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Systems - Core SE Team Lead (25-334) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This position, located in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, plays a crucial role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

Relocation assistance is not offered for this position, and this role requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital component of the Missile Defense System. It provides an essential operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively manage networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It functions as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations worldwide and locally to improve overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a crucial component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.

The team lead is the primary leadership figure for all Core SE team members and reports to the Regional SE Engineering Manager.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for tracking accurate team progress metrics

Handles all team staffing duties, such as interviewing new candidates, addressing team performance concerns, and supporting team member growth and development

Expected to be technically competent in all work performed by the team, enabling them to review the product and ensure quality

Responsible for establishing and ensuring adherence to Core SE team processes

Experience in developing proposals, team building, creating and maintaining metrics, facilitating and providing training, and shaping organizational culture

Managing System Engineers and providing mentorship in the discipline is essential

Ability to work on-site and collaborate with teammates from multiple companies and across geographically diverse locations is required

Familiarity with

Agile

principles and the ability to work with different teams within an organization are also required

Salary range in Huntsville: $131,100 - $196,700

Salary range in Colorado Springs: $124,900 - $187,300

Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in

STEM

fields such as Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master's degree (preferred) in a

STEM

-related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related field with 4 years of relevant work experience

Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued

Secret

security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs are required

Strong System Engineering and Proven Leadership Experience Needed

Experience in system engineering for large, complex systems, including requirements analysis and decomposition, interface definition, root cause analysis, application design, integration, and testing

Excellent communication and presentation skills are required

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree

in Systems Engineering is highly preferred

Certification:

INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification

Certification:

Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)

Experience developing prototypes and conducting experiments is strongly preferred

Modeling and simulation experience is desirable

Experience within the Missile Defense Agency or with Command and Control is highly preferred

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

Primary Level Salary Range: $124,300.00 - $196,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
