to oversee energy isolation and electrical safety compliance during the construction and commissioning of a high-performance data center. This role is critical in ensuring safe work practices, adherence to regulatory standards, and consistent execution of energy isolation protocols across the site. As the

Controlling Energy Marshal

, you will serve as the client's onsite representative, partnering with General Contractors, vendors, and internal teams to manage and audit the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) process and maintain energy isolation standards from project start through handover to operations. Top 3 Must-Have Skills Data center construction and commissioning experience

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint)

10+ years of relevant experience

in electrical safety, construction, or commissioning

Key Responsibilities Field Oversight & Safety Assurance Ensure contractors and vendors follow the organization's Energy Isolation Program and Electrical Safety Program

Establish and manage an energy isolation assurance process, audit and close gaps

Work with the General Contractor's Authorizing Energy Marshal to implement and maintain site-specific LOTO procedures

Review and approve all energy-related SoWs, MOPs, and commissioning scripts

Ensure proper training, PPE, and qualifications for all personnel involved in energy isolation

Act as a subject matter expert in energy isolation-related incident investigations

Independently stop unsafe work as needed, particularly in energy and electrical safety contexts

Requirements Required Qualifications 10+ years of experience in data center construction, commissioning, or electrical safety

Deep understanding of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), NFPA 70E, and OSHA regulations

Strong ability to interpret MEP drawings, electrical line diagrams, and redundancy designs

Familiarity with major data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure including:

Paralleling switchgear, UPS systems, DC battery banks

Generators, ATS/STS systems

HVAC, fire suppression, controls, and security systems

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional engagement and reporting

Preferred Certifications NFPA CESCP (Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional)

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training

Previous experience as an Energy Marshal or commissioning lead on a hyperscale or enterprise-level data center project
