Job Description
:
The Area Director of Revenue Management is responsible for maximizing overall hotel revenue for rooms and food and beverage through the implementation of effective pricing and distribution strategies in large hotels. Outperform direct competitors by winning market share with rational and competitive pricing, distribution strategy backed by targeted marketing, and careful management of hotel inventory to maximize topline revenue and yield high net profits. Manage and oversee revenue management analytic functions to produce reports that support and evaluate hotel business strategies. Provide guidance and support sales and marketing initiatives that are targeted to meet the needs of the hotel. Produce accurate revenue forecasts that help set hotel goals and outgrow the competition. Support the reservation process as needed. This position is a complex position reporting to the hotel's General Managers. Display leadership qualities that mentor, develop, and guide hotel team members such as revenue analysts, reservations agents, and managers.
Responsibilities include:
· Develop and implement pricing strategies: Analyze and measure pricing strategies to ensure consistency and alignment with company pricing philosophy. Formulate strategic plans for both hotels and communicate actions effectively to achieve revenue objectives. Utilize available systems to implement, manage, and control accurate selling strategies across all channels and segments.
· This position is integral to the preparation and presentation of reports and data for ownership groups, providing valuable insights that support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will be confident and effective in presenting information during monthly ownership meetings for both properties, ensuring clear communication and a thorough understanding of business performance.
· Optimize inventory management: Proactively manage inventory for rooms and function space. Assess the impact of inventory factors on performance and implement corrective measures as needed. Manage promotions, restrictions, and policies to optimize revenue across all areas.
· Forecasting and analysis: Accurately prepare monthly and weekly forecasts for all transient segments and groups based on feedback from sales and event services. Provide data analysistoevaluate business segments, accounts, market mix, room type demand, and channel production to identify trends and patterns for strategic decision-making.
· Market intelligence and strategic planning: Research market trends, monitor competitor activities, and understand customer preferences to inform pricing, inventory, and selling strategies. Contribute to the development of transient and group budgets and marketing plans. Collaborate with the sales and operations departments to define booking terms, conditions, and allotments for transient and group segments.
· Performance evaluation: Evaluate weekly and monthly market share reports to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive positioning. Ensure targeted relative revenue per available room (RevPAR) positioning is achieved. Work closely with the marketing team to drive digital marketing initiatives and optimize direct e-commerce channels.
· Strategic action planning: Assist in developing strategic action plans for transient revenue management over 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month periods. Define space release policies and catering minimums in collaboration with group sales and catering teams. Communicate selling strategies effectively to sales and marketing colleagues.
· Collaboration with Sales and Operations Team: Work closely with the sales team to develop collaborative strategies that align with revenue goals and market demand. Provide guidance on pricing, inventory management, and promotional strategies to maximize revenue potential from both transient and group bookings. Collaborate on the development of sales initiatives and promotions to stimulate demand and drive revenue growth.
Qualifications:
-Minimum of 3 years of experience in revenue management field within the hospitality industry, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth and optimizing profitability.
-Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends, and make strategic recommendations based on findings.
-Proficiency in revenue management systems (RMS), property management systems (PMS), and distribution channels. Hyatt systems experience preferred but not required.
-Excellent understanding of market dynamics, competitor activities, and customer preferences in the hospitality industry.
-Demonstrated ability to develop and implement pricing strategies, inventory management tactics, and promotional campaigns to maximize revenue potential.
