While our Sr. Specialist Application Engineers are involved in multiple areas throughout the Technology organization, they primarily work with Technology and Business teams to design, build, and implement web and process applications. They assist the Client Success department in resolving issues relating to production processes and are responsible for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as well. What You'll Do Propose technical solutions to the Manager, Application Engineering Design, develop, test, and implement improvements or new features into the Waystar website and core processing applications Develop/augment applications based on functional and technical specifications Adhere to Waystar coding standards and approved technologies, proposing amendments when necessary Unit test changes on development and validate that solutions meet business requirements with appropriate owners Communicate development progress daily to senior-level team members Attend to work items assigned through the internal case system in a timely fashion Take ownership of work items, provide estimates, and report daily progress as part of the SDLC Assist in the QA process Participate in production code deployment days, providing deployment instructions and performing post-release smoke testing Maintain open and fluid communication with management and build positive relationships with team members Assist in creating and/or approving technical specifications Identify areas in the application that need refactoring and work with teams to implement enhancements Collaborate with departments to design/implement new enhancements, including SQL design and process design in the designated programming language Track changes and communicate abnormalities to QA to push changes through development to production Identify opportunities for refactoring, optimization, and other improved technology solutions Notify management of problems affecting applications and help implement solutions Reassign items as needed to address timely delivery Provide estimates for project tasks and update estimates as needed Solve complex technical problems with minimal supervision Mentor fellow team members in development as Application Engineers Additional duties as assigned
What You'll Need
5+ years of in-depth .NET and SQL experience Current/recent .NET versions SQL Server Experience with GIT and code repositories Any Java experience is nice to have Hands-on experience with microservice architecture and container deployment Unit Testing experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and welcome change Highly self-motivated Ability to work in both team and solo environments Experience building highly scalable software solutions Subject Matter Expertise in at least one technical track Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent work experience Active use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and techniques to enhance performance, drive innovation, and improve decision-making Ability to leverage AI tools and platforms to streamline workflows and drive innovation Curiosity and adaptability in exploring emerging AI technologies
Preferred Skills
N-Tier and SaaS development experience is preferred Postgres
