SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs advanced level of work in prepping, painting, finishing, and maintaining of a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures in the aerospace industry. Prepares surface for painting and finishing; applies undercoats and finish coats using the full range of application methods and materials; advises in the selection and storage of painting materials. May direct the work of other classified staff in the area and perform related work as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Advanced interpretation of blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Measures, marks, and scribes dimension and reference points on material or work piece as guides for finishing.
Prepares, primes, sands, seals, and paints a variety of surfaces and structures utilizing all types of or paint and finishes.
Calculates mix ratios in order to mix sealant, filler materials and paint.
Monitors finishing operations to detect any malfunctions and adjusts system controls or control media as required.
Ability to identify opportunities to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product
Verifies conformance of finished work pieces to specifications.
Applies primer, top coat paint, and any spray-applied coating to detailed parts, sub-assemblies and major assemblies of aircraft interiors to customer or company specification and industry quality standards.
Performs moderately complex to complex filling operations related to the cosmetic appearance of the work piece being worked.
Ability to perform difficult masking operations.
Maintains all finishing equipment to ensure functionality and performance.
Seeks methods to cross train to develop technical skills and business knowledge.
Makes sure that workstation is clean, organized and free of hazardous materials
Adheres to all factory safety procedures and guidelines
Maintains clean, organized work environment and adheres to all safety standards, procedures, and regulations.
Contributes to team effort in a collaborative and supportive manner.
Adheres to all factory safety procedures and guidelines.
Other duties as required in support of the department and the company

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent
1-year related experience preferred
Automotive/Aircraft refinishing experience a plus.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Conversational in any other language is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and schematics
Writing skills required to complete documents and forms
