GSE Mechanic
We are seeking an experienced GSE Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience in mechanical testing and troubleshooting, and will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance repairs on Ground Support Equipment (GSE) such as baggage carts and deicing equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform light and heavy repairs on GSE equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in diesel, gas, and LP engines.
- Troubleshoot A/C and D/C electrical systems and read electrical schematics.
- Gain knowledge of generators, specifically 400 Hz and 28 volt systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, utilizing hydraulic flow schematics.
- Use computer software for diagnosing Powertrain Management Systems.
- Repair 80 and 48 volt DC systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair Airstart systems.
- Continue training to enhance knowledge of the equipment.
- Maintain productivity levels and accurately complete vehicle repair orders in a timely manner.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical testing and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read schematics and perform electrical testing.
- Possession of a personal rolling toolbox with basic tools.
- Strong knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
- Valid driver's license.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Vocational training certificate or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience with GSE is preferred.
- Experience in heavy maintenance diesel and/or electrical work for a minimum of 4 years.
- Ability to attain an Airport-issued ID badge

Work Environment
Work in a covered hangar environment, with heating in the winter and large fans for cooling in the summer. The team consists of 20 mechanics in Boston, and there are seven mechanics on each shift. Larger projects, such as full vehicle overhauls, are completed at an off-site location with a similar work environment. Expect some overtime work as part of the job.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boston, Massachusetts.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
