Position Summary:
Pettus Automotive is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Body Shop Paint Prepper to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that vehicles are properly prepared for the painting process, contributing to the high-quality standards that Pettus Automotive is known for. Key Responsibilities:

Surface Preparation:
Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by sanding, masking, and cleaning the areas to be painted.
•
Masking:
Accurately mask and tape off areas of vehicles that are not to be painted, ensuring sharp lines and preventing overspray.
•
Sanding & Priming:
Sand vehicle surfaces using various tools and techniques to achieve a smooth finish. Apply primer to repaired areas as needed.
•
Cleaning:
Clean and dust vehicle surfaces to ensure they are free from contaminants before the painting process.
•
Inspection:
Inspect prepped surfaces to ensure they meet quality standards and are ready for the painting process.
•
Safety Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including proper use of protective gear and safe handling of materials and chemicals.
•
Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain all tools and equipment in good working condition, reporting any issues to the Body Shop Manager.
•
Collaboration:
Work closely with the paint technicians and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality output.
•
Quality Assurance:
Assist in final quality checks to ensure the finished product meets Pettus Automotive’s high standards of craftsmanship.
Qualifications:
•
Experience:
Previous experience in automotive paint preparation or a similar role is preferred.
•
Skills:
Proficient in sanding, masking, and priming techniques. Familiarity with automotive paint materials and processes.
•
Attention to Detail:
Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on quality.
•
Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand, bend, and move for extended periods. Must be able to lift and move heavy objects as required.
•
Team Player:
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
•
Safety Conscious:
Knowledge of safety practices related to the automotive industry and the use of hazardous materials.
