Job Description:
This position serves as the medical director of graduate medical education (GME) and supports all GME-related activities in the hospital. The position leads the hospital's graduate medical education committee (GMEC), identifies hospital funding opportunities to support GME, and guides GME initiatives and programs. This position is designed to oversee no more than three Residency or Fellowship programs employed by the Hospital.This position reports directly to the Hospital CMO with a matrixed reporting relationship to the Enterprise Designated Institutional Official.
Essential Functions
- Chairs the hospital's GMEC.
- Serves as a voting member of the enterprise GMEC.
- Partners with enterprise DIO to ensure program and institutional compliance of accrediting body requirements.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for new GME-related initiatives.
- Supports program director(s) and residents/fellows at the hospital to ensure programs are able to offer the highest quality medical education opportunities possible.
- Serve as a liaison between hospital leadership/administration and GME programs. Supports GME program sustainability, budgeting, and finance needs.
- Has accountability for the external residents and fellows rotating at the hospital
- Supports resident and fellow needs at the hospital level to ensure accreditation standards are met.
- May support medical student rotation processes and procedures at the hospital.
