Position Overview
The IT Trading & Operations Systems Team is responsible for the development and support of applications across our Portfolio Management, Trading, Operations, Compliance, Enterprise Risk, Regulatory Reporting, HR, Finance, and Risk & Controls functions. This team consists of 10 technology professionals whose key functions include software development, business analysis, system integration, and application support of the production environment. The Software Engineer will be responsible for the technical design, implementation and maintenance of several software systems built primarily on but not limited to Microsoft .NET stack with SQL Server database storage. We have applications that also use Python, Angular, React and PowerShell. This position offers a talented software engineer the opportunity to work within an agile project team and build close relationships with both developers and key business stakeholders across the firm.
GMO is currently operating in a hybrid work model with the current expectation that the candidate will be in the office two days per week.
Primary Responsibilities Propose, design and implement technical solutions for our business partners
Enhance existing technical components, applications and libraries
Provide remediation for existing system issues
Participate in peer reviews (both code and design reviews)
Assist with eliciting requirements
Produce effective technical documentation where needed
Requirements Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience
Solid understanding of software development principles, best practices, object-oriented design and patterns
Familiarity with distributed enterprise applications
Solid understanding of Agile best practices
Professional programming experience with C# and Python
Experience with automated unit testing writing in related frameworks (e.g. nunit, pytest) and GIT
Strong understanding of relational databases and proficiency with SQL, preferably T-SQL in Microsoft SQL Server
Solid grasp of web technologies (e.g. MVC, TypeScript/JavaScript) and related frameworks, including one of the following: Angular, React, or Aurelia
Experience with reporting and business intelligence software would be helpful: SSRS and QlikViewQlikSense
Experience with Microsoft Power Automate, PowerShell, and Microsoft Excel would also be helpful
Undergraduate degree required, preferably in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.

Experience in the financial industry is highly desirable
Experience with distributive architecture in cloud-based platforms such as Microsoft Azure is preferred
Experience working with data warehouse technologies is preferred
$120,000 - $160,000 a year This salary range is estimated for this role and actual pay may be different based on a candidates qualifications and/or years of experience. In addition, this position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus award, which award may be determined by individual, team, department and firm performance, and is subject to the terms of GMOs compensation plan. This position is also benefits eligible.
