Varada Consulting, LLC is seeking a full-time, highly skilled Software Engineer with a passion for cyber operations, vulnerability research, and system exploitation. The ideal candidate will focus on both Offensive Cyber Operations (OCO) and Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO), engaging in full lifecycle system engineeringfrom requirements gathering and source code analysis to technical documentation and customer collaboration.
This role involves conducting long-term, in-depth vulnerability assessments using advanced reverse engineering, kernel debugging, and exploitation techniques. Creativity is encouraged, as engineers are expected to explore every technical avenue to identify and exploit system vulnerabilities.
In addition to vulnerability research, the candidate will perform software development tasks, including designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting software applications. The role also includes developing production-quality software, improving development processes, implementing unit and integration tests, and preparing technical reports.
Job Duties:
Perform software engineering and vulnerability research focusing on OCO and DCO activities.
Work directly with customers, performing full-cycle system engineeringfrom requirements gathering and source code analysis to technical documentation.
Conduct long-term, in-depth vulnerability assessments using reverse engineering, kernel debugging, and exploitation technologies.
Encourage creativity and thorough technical exploration to uncover system weaknesses and exploit them.
Perform software development tasks and assist in designing and architecting software applications, individually or as part of a team.
Develop production-quality software based on predefined requirements and designs.
Review, analyze, and modify programming systems, including coding, testing, debugging, installation, and documentation.
Implement improvements to the software development process in accordance with organizational procedures.
Develop unit and integration tests, test plans, and prepare software test reports.
Write documentation for software and interfaces.
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma with 7+ years of experience in software development technologies and methodologies.
Or a BS in a STEM field (Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Information Systems) with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
Experience with x86/x64 assembly, reverse engineering, kernel debugging, and protocol stacks.
Experience with reverse engineering tools such as IDAPro, GDB, WinDbg, Immunity/OllyDbg or equivalents.
Experience in malware analysis and mitigation techniques.
Strong understanding of Windows and Linux OS internals and APIs.
Knowledge of analyzing shellcode, packed and obfuscated, and related algorithms is a plus.
Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Perl.
Experience in host and network analysis to identify vulnerabilities and anomalies.
Ability to document findings clearly in reports and briefings.
Clearance Requirements:
Active Top Secret clearance/SCI with Polygraph.
