Base pay range $150,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr Direct message the job poster from EVONA Flight Software Engineer Our client are building a next-generation satellite relay network in low Earth orbit to deliver real-time, continuous connectivity across industries. By combining RF and optical inter-satellite links, our hybrid communication architecture is setting a new standard for interoperable satellite communications. Were looking for a Flight Software Engineer to lead the development of the embedded and flight software stack powering our spacecraft platforms. From low-level device drivers to autonomous fault recovery, youll design and implement the digital nervous system that makes our satellites reliable, secure, and scalable. Youll work hands-on with avionics hardware, payload systems, and vendor SDKs to bring our first mission to orbit in 2026, laying the foundation for a future constellation. What Youll Do Architect and implement real-time flight software for satellite command and control Develop embedded software for avionics, SDRs, and optical/RF payload subsystems Build hardware abstraction layers, device drivers, and telemetry/telecommand interfaces Integrate vendor SDKs into the flight stack for bus and payload components Implement autonomy features, including fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) Build and maintain SIL (software-in-the-loop) and HITL (hardware-in-the-loop) frameworks Design secure spacecraft-to-ground communication protocols Support hardware integration, functional testing, and on-orbit commissioning Collaborate closely with RF, GNC, and systems engineers for seamless operations What Youll Bring B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field 5+ years of experience in embedded/flight software development (space, aerospace, or robotics) Strong proficiency in C/C++ for real-time, resource-constrained systems Experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, VxWorks, RTEMS) Expertise in debugging, CI/CD, automated testing, and hardware bring-up Hands-on knowledge of embedded communication protocols (CAN, UART, IC, SPI, RS-422, etc.) Familiarity with spacecraft operations, comm protocols, and avionics integration Ability to adapt vendor SDKs into mission-critical flight stacks Passion for building reliable systems that perform in extreme environments Ability to work in-person in Palo Alto, CA (relocation supported if needed) Why Join?
