SUMMARY

The Team Leader is responsible for leading hourly personnel on shift to manufacture quality products and maintain the equipment in a safe and efficient manner. The Team Leader functions as a front-line supervisor during time periods when the Production Supervisor is not present. The Team Leader also maintains all the responsibilities of a production operator. They are required to set up, operate and adjust machine settings such as temperature, speed, and tension, to optimize production efficiency on industrial/medical extruders and/or expansion lines. Must follow production standards and work instructions. Must maintain production records and good housekeeping.

Responsibilities also include training new personnel, understanding and meeting all customer expectations, opening/closing the building and managing shift hand off duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Supervising production staff when the production supervisor is not present. • Opening and closing the building as needed. • Attending and supervising shift hand offs. • Conducting rounds to ensure all operators are working in a safe and productive manor. • Assisting operators with routine trouble shooting activities. • Maintaining a production extruder and/or expansion line and producing parts between other activities.

Other duties may be assigned within relevant areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE • 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment, supervisory experience is preferred. • Excellent communicator - verbal and written - in the English language. • Experience with PTFE, FEP or other extrusion operations a strong plus. • Clean room and medical device manufacturing is a strong plus. • Demonstrated capabilities in positively motivating teams. • Demonstrated capabilities in leadership, taking initiative, problem-solving, and making data-based decisions • Computer competencies - Microsoft Office and related products; Proficiencies in PLC (programmable logic controllers) maintenance/troubleshooting, and working with an ERP system are a plus. • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude. • Capable of safely operating forklifts, lifting 50 LBS, climbing stairs and working in hot and cold environments

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The employee must be proficient in U.S. English language which includes speaking, reading and writing. Ability to read, to analyze, and to interpret general business texts, customer documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must have the ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, customers, and suppliers. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

MATHEMATICAL AND COMPUTER SOFTWARE SKILLS

Ability to work with standard business mathematical concepts. The employee must have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, metric conversions, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage conflict constructively. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally is required to stand for long periods of time. He/she is occasionally required to walk throughout the factory, including up and down stairs a few times during the shift. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Willingness to travel 5% of the time is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Typical work hours are 5 days per week. The employee must wear personal protection equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and hearing protection in PPE designated areas. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job he/she may be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work area is usually moderate. The plant and office are non-smoking environment. The employee should expect warm working conditions during the summer months in the factory.
