Introduction:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Vice President ofLending to participate in strategic planning and the development of creditunion policies, procedures, and goals. Accountable for the credit union'sadministrative management of loan functions. Develop and implement consistentorganizational policies and procedures that comply with external regulations.Support and lead commercial loans, residential mortgage department, indirectlending, and consumer lending department. Ensure maximum profitability oflending activities that are also in the best interest of the member.
Essential Dutiesand Responsibilities: • Participate in the credit union's long-andshort-term strategic planning. • Accountable for planning, organizing, anddirecting the credit union's collections and centralized lending functions,including real estate. • Set the Loan Department's strategic plans toalign with the credit union's business plan. Establish and ensure theimplementation of target goals for the department. • Ensure lending activities with all loan staffresults in reaching credit union goals, achieving its greatest volumepotential, ensure clear understanding of rules, regulations, requirements andexpectations, all with minimal delinquency and charge-off ratios. • Develop,implement, and monitor policies and procedures in accordance with credit uniongoals and strategies. Work with other departments to maintain consistency incredit union policies and procedures. • Overseeand monitor the loan function to achieve its strategic goals. Direct the workof loan managers in all lending areas to include underwriting, loan processing,loan documentation, and approval or denial of loans for consumer, mortgage, orbusiness loans. • Overseethe development and monitoring of performance standards. Provide mentoring,coaching, or training to assist and develop managers and staff. • Researchand evaluate the feasibility of new lending products. Develop and implementplans for expansion of lending programs. Keep abreast of changes in theindustry and changing trends in lending and react to changes in a way thatmaintains competitiveness. • Coordinateand oversee all loan staff activities - including loan sales,compliance, and product training; weekly team meeting facilitation; timelinessof loan application responses; follow-up on lead generations; departmentalreporting; dealer visits and business development activities; completion oftitle/UCC/insurance work and all other time-sensitive tasks - of the loandepartment to ensure maximum efficiency and sales goals attainment. • Representand promote the credit union at external functions. • Back upother lending functions as needed.
Other duties involving lending may be assigned. Each employee will additionally be assignedtraining, including annual Bank Secrecy Act training, that may includetesting. Employees will be required toearn a passing grade, as set by the vendor or AFCU. All employees will be required to activelyparticipate in credit union advocacy efforts and are encouraged to contributeto credit union trade advocacy funds, such as CUPAC/CULAC.
Skills andQualifications Required: • Bachelor of Business Administration or Financepreferred. Related work experience may be accepted in lieu of degree. Minimum10 years in lending management experience with a minimum focus oncollections/mortgage/commercial lending with a preference towards credit unionoperations management experience. • Extreme attention to detail and ability to keepup in a fast-paced environment. • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficiency with electronic deliverysystems. Ability to use Adobe or otherlike software to complete and view fillable documents. • Ability to read, analyze and interpret generalbusiness periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures. Ability to organize thoughts in written and/or oral form in a professional and grammatically correct manner, so that therecipient may easily understand the contents. • Ability to analyze member requests and applycredit union procedures which best serve the member. • Ability to explain loan documents to members ina manner in which they understand. • Ability to calculate interest accrued per day onloans. Ability to calculate minorcalculations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and figuringpercentages. • Ability to apply common sense understanding tocarry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involvingseveral concrete variables in standardized situations. • Ability to lift up to 5 pounds. The ability tosit or stand for extended periods and to walk to other locations in building asnecessary to complete work. Ability topush heavy doors as necessary to gain access to areas needing entry to completework. Ability to stoop, kneel and crouchto complete other tasks as necessary.
