The
MEP Quality Control Manager
is responsible for the
leadership, management, and execution of the Construction Design-Build Quality Program , with a focus on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes. This role ensures that all installations meet applicable design standards, codes, and construction practices. The successful candidate will be a proactive team member who works closely with project management, engineering, field staff, subcontractors, and governmental agencies. Key Responsibilities, but not limited to:
Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of the
Construction Quality Management Plan
for all MEP-related scopes of work. Ensure all installations comply with plans, specifications, codes, standards, and applicable construction practices. Review and prepare MEP submittals , manage pre-installation conferences, and oversee MEP inspections and testing. Coordinate all aspects of quality monitoring and assurance for
chiller plants, HVAC, and electrical systems , ensuring performance standards are met. Collaborate closely with engineering teams to understand and enforce
specification-driven quality requirements . Establish and communicate project quality expectations to the full project team and subcontractors. Oversee
field supervision
of workers and coordinate daily construction activities with multiple subcontractors. Conduct field inspections and audits; manage
non-conformance reports , documentation, and corrective action plans. Maintain detailed and accurate QC documentation, including inspection logs, testing reports, and compliance records. Ensure that quality control systems are aligned with
CADD/BIM tools
for coordination and verification (preferred). Collaborate with the project team to set up and maintain critical quality processes and application methods. Monitor and enforce strict
compliance with OSHA standards ; lead
bi-weekly safety meetings
and ensure site activities meet all
Safety & Health
requirements. Report to and liaise with the Government, Construction Manager (CM), and Design Team regarding progress, issues, and resolutions. Ensure on-time collection and delivery of all required QA/QC documentation for project closeout. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Minimum 7-10 years of experience in quality control for MEP systems on federal, public works, or large-scale infrastructure projects. Proven experience with
chiller plants ,
chilled water systems , and central utility mechanical systems. Demonstrated success working with
federal agencies (GSA, USACE, NAVFAC)
and a deep understanding of agency protocols. Certification in Construction Quality Management (CQM-C) from USACE/NAVFAC preferred. Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, NEC, IPC) and quality assurance frameworks (ISO 9001, ASQ). Strong communication, leadership, and field coordination skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, and quality management software is a plus. Experience with
CADD or BIM platforms
preferred. Strong understanding of OSHA safety requirements and site safety best practices.
