Reports To: Applications Engineering Manager
Summary:
Newterra is solving the world's most impactful water problems from providing drinking water for communities to cleaning hard to treat water for reuse or return to the environment. Applications Engineer at Newterra plays a key role in this mission of providing treatment solutions to address these needs. This position collaborates with sales, engineering, and procurement to tailor solutions for clients. Responsibilities include evaluating customer requirements, defining system design features, costing solutions accurately, and preparing bidding packages.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Review customer specifications, resolve issues, clarify requirements, and budget for non-standard requirements. Work with the sales and operations teams to develop commercial strategies for competitive projects and document strategy sessions. Collaborate with suppliers and procurement to obtain component and equipment costs. Prepare proposals including technical equipment details, draft process flow diagrams and layout drawings, influent parameters, discharge criteria, clarifications, customer technical questionnaires, and appendices. Work with the sales team and supervisors to manage bid submission information, estimate project schedules, and respond to customer questions.
Other Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for performing duties in a safe manner and promoting safety in accordance with Newterra's safety policies and procedures. Comply with Quality Management Systems in accordance with Newterra's internal quality standards. Complete all responsibilities while ensuring adherence to Newterra's Delegation of Authority. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Etc.) Experience in designing and budgeting water treatment systems is seen as a plus. Travel availability at
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and the ability to learn new computer applications quickly. Ability to work independently and work collaboratively with others to achieve a common goal. Excellent written and verbal communication and attention to detail.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Regularly required to sit for prolonged periods; required to stand, walk, and use business equipment daily such as a computer, copier, telephone, etc.; occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 15 lbs. Complex thinking and analysis required with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
Work Environment
Generally, works in office environment, however, may be required to visit client sites and be exposed to indoor or outdoor industry specific elements.
