$38.45 - $52.88 per hour

The Fire Sprinkler Designer will design and prepare layout drawings for fire sprinkler systems in commercial, industrial and/or residential settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fire protection codes, hydraulic calculations and CAD software. The Fire Sprinkler Designer will work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors and other partners to ensure all systems meet safety standards and client requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Follow all OSHA standards and laws. Submit drawings for approval to AHJ. Attend regular development meetings Address limitations of technologies and materials involved in the CAD process Incorporate feedback into 3D model designs Make revisions to models as requested Run simulations and stress-tests on all 3D models before prototyping Keep up to date on all modern advancement in material and software technologies Pursue ongoing education in the field Utilize large databases of material property information to best select materials for modeling Submit drawings for approval to AHJ. Design of plumbing drawings, as-built drawings, site water supplies design and testing. Re-create new (MEP) and structural drawings under existing conditions for design coordination. Read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings. Provide accurate electrical schematics per client conditions and analyze and track technical specifications including dimensions, arrangements, and installation procedures. Analyze and verify all hydraulic calculations to ensure adequate water delivery in the event of a fire condition emergency. Perform other duties assigned by management. Education/Qualification:

Experienced with AutoCAD or similar design/drafting software preferred. (We are based on AutoCAD and HyrdraCAD) Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Related Field, such as mechanical engineering, preferred. Experience with Revit, Navisworks, or other Building Information Modeling (B.I.M.) preferred Strong organizational skills Excellent attention to detail An abundance of patience to see a complicated project to the end Ability to think in a three-dimensional manner Other Duties:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects. The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions: balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
