Overview
Structures Inspector to join Arcadis in Selma, CA. The role involves field construction inspections to assure materials and workmanship conform with the approved plans and specifications. Must be able to work onsite in Selma, CA. Responsibilities
Review drawings and specifications and understand all RFIs, submittals, field design changes, and other change notices impacting the work. Ensure construction staff uses the latest construction documents. Review all approved submittals and verify status; ensure comments are incorporated into the work. Conduct visual inspections of the work per project specifications and standards. Prepare and publish a running quality punch list as part of weekly progress meetings. Participate in the preparation of a Work Plan for each distinct element of the work. Coordinate and compile documentation of testing data with 3rd party materials testing labs and on-site personnel. Perform quality control inspections across the four phases: plan the work; initial inspection; follow-up inspections; close-out inspection. Maintain records of quality testing (e.g., pipe pressure, soil density) and include these in the monthly report; prepare daily inspection reports (DIR). Prepare and participate in the resolution of project deficiencies by writing NCRs; quantify work performed and document records; maintain project deficiency and noncompliance logs. Maintain project logs of quality testing (concrete breaks, compaction testing, pipe pressure testing) and analyze for trends indicating potential deficiencies. Take and file photographs documenting the work daily. Take appropriate action in all situations with strong adaptability. Qualifications
Required: 10+ years of experience in the field of Transportation Construction Inspection; Caltrans and/or California transportation inspection experience; Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Preferred: OSHA 10 or 30 safety training. Key Skills and Attributes
Establish and maintain open communication with contractor management, other state/public agencies, and the public to resolve contract-related issues. Valid Driver's License required when operating a company vehicle. Knowledge of construction materials, civil engineering mathematics, methods, materials, and equipment used in construction; reading drawings and specifications; RFIs, submittals, and change notices affecting field work. Ability to prepare clear written correspondence and reports; maintain accurate daily site activity reports and field measurements for progress payments; produce reports on progress, safety, quality, schedule, and budget status.
