Description Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) Finance, Technology, & Analytics Administration (FTAA) is looking for their newest IT System Administrator on the Division of Information Technology (DIT) Code Deployment team.

As an IT System Administrator within DIT, you'll be part of a team that is dedicated to maintaining accuracy, consistency and completeness in all code deliveries supporting the Automated Client Eligibility System (ACES) complex of systems, a critical statewide infrastructure that delivers public assistance benefits to Washington residents.

The ACES Complex includes: ACES Eligibility Service Enterprise Data Warehouse Washington Connection These mission-critical systems support more than 6,000 users in 90+ locations and processes over $160-$170 million in monthly benefits for approximately 2.1 million vulnerable Washingtonians-or one in three residents.

You'll support the development and evaluation of change requests for large system releases, incremental fixes and system enhancements.

Telework is an option, with occasional on-site work at the Olympia office.

Some of what you'll do

Maintain and manage source code repositories for mission-critical systems. Support the secure, stable migration of eligibility business rules to modern platforms. Deploy and implement changes across the Systems Development Lifecycle using tools such as SCLM (Software Configuration Library Management), Operational Decision Manager, WinSCP, WebSphere, InfoSphere, JIRA, ServiceNow, GitHub, and Jenkins. Collaborate across teams to troubleshoot issues and perform root cause analysis during system deployments. Participate in ITIL practices including Change Management, Incident Management, and Problem Management. Analyze, package, and deploy code into appropriate environments to ensure consistency and reliability. Collaborate across teams to continuously improve and mature the DevOps process workflow, tooling, environments and documentation. What we are looking for

Professionals with a bachelor's degree including nine semester or 15 quarter hours of computer science courses AND four years of consultative, administrative, or supervisory experience in information technology analysis, system maintenance, or troubleshooting/problem resolution experience, or analyzing, designing or programming computer systems applications or databases. Or

An associate's degree or completion of an accredited vocational training program in an information technology or related program AND six years of consultative, administrative, or supervisory experience in information technology analysis, system maintenance, or troubleshooting / problem resolution experience or analyzing, designing or programming computer systems applications or databases. Or

Eight years Information Technology experience. Consultative, administrative or supervisory experience in information technology analysis, system maintenance, or troubleshooting/problem resolution experience, or analyzing, designing, or programming computer systems applications or databases will substitute for education on the basis of one year of experience for two years of education. Four years of concurrent Information Technology experience analyzing ACES, Eligibility Service, or Washington Connection issues. Note: Additional equivalent professional experience may substitute for the degree. Preferred Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

IT Service Management (ITSM) & ITIL - Strong understanding of ITIL practices and service management frameworks. Code Management & Deployment - Experience supporting code versioning, deployment pipelines, and release processes. Mainframe Expertise - Hands-on experience with DB2 and CICS. Tool Proficiency - Familiarity with industry tools including JIRA, ServiceNow, GitHub, Jenkins, ISPF/TSO, Job/Scan, Assist/GT, SCLM, and OPC. Dependability & Accountability - Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks, deliver quality results, and meet deadlines with minimal oversight. Judgment & Problem Solving - Skilled in analyzing complex issues, adapting to changing environments, and applying creative solutions. Communication - Ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders. Quality Management - Knowledge of quality assurance principles, methodologies, and best practices. Project Management - Familiarity with project management concepts, tools, and practices. Retirement and Deferred Compensation State Employees are members of the Washington Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs. For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems' web site.

Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP). This is a supplemental retirement savings program (similar to an IRA) that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.

Social Security All state employees are covered by the federal Social Security and Medicare systems. The state and the employee pay an equal amount into the system.

Holidays Full-time and part-time employees are entitled to paid holidays and one paid personal holiday per calendar year.

Full-time employees who work full monthly schedules qualify for holiday compensation if they are employed before the holiday and are in pay status for at least 80 nonovertime hours during the month of the holiday; or for the entire work shift preceding the holiday.

Part-time employees who are in pay status during the month of the holiday qualify for the holiday on a pro-rata basis. Compensation for holidays (including personal holiday) will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status in the month to that required for full-time employment, excluding all holiday hours. Pay status includes hours worked and time on paid leave.

Sick Leave Full-time employees earn eight hours of sick leave per month. Overtime eligible employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month, earn a monthly proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment. Overtime exempt employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month do not earn a monthly accrual of sick leave.

Sick leave accruals for part-time employees will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment. Pay status includes hours worked, time on paid leave and paid holiday.

Vacation (Annual Leave) Full-time employees accrue vacation leave at the rates specified in (1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Full-time employees who are in pay status for less than 80 nonovertime hours in a month do not earn a monthly accrual of vacation leave.

Part-time employees accrue vacation leave hours in accordance with (1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA) on a pro rata basis. Vacation leave accrual will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment.

Pay status includes hours worked, time on paid leave and paid holiday.

As provided in , an employer may authorize a lump-sum accrual of vacation leave or accelerate the vacation leave accrual rate to support the recruitment and/or retention of a candidate or employee for a Washington Management Service position. Vacation leave accrual rates may only be accelerated using the rates established WAC 357-31-165.

Note:

Most agencies follow the civil service rules covering leave and holidays for

exempt

employees even though there is no requirement for them to do so. However, agencies are required to adhere to the applicable RCWs pertaining holidays and leave.

Military Leave Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year.

Bereavement Leave Most employees whose family member or household member dies, or for loss of pregnancy, are entitled to five (5) days of paid bereavement leave. In addition, the employer may approve other available leave types for the purpose of bereavement leave.
