Patient Benefits Coordinator

Schedule: M-F 8am-5pm

Location: 337 E. Virginia Ave Bldg B, Phx 85004

POSITION SUMMARY

:

Under the direct supervision the Office Manager, the Patient Benefits Coordinator should understand all Native American Connections (NAC) policies and all funding sources and contracts. The position is responsible for ensuring each client is assessed to identify the appropriate funding source and for checking and updating client records regularly. Ensure all documentation is received and is accurately documented in the client record.

RESPONSIBILITIES

:

Reviews eligibility and verifies eligibility status of client coverage in Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), Medicare, ALTCS, Behavioral Health Coverage, and private insurance utilizing Waystar, Novitasphere, and Availity to identify third party insurance coverage When third party insurance is identified, work with client, front office, and billing staff to obtain proper documentation and verification to update funding sources in E.H.R system

Understanding of Marketplace enrollments and identification of fraud related to AHCCCS enrollment. Assist client with resolution of enrollment issues. Update insurance eligibility and rate code changes, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner

HEAplus Assistor to assist clients with applying for or renewing AHCCCS benefits.

Follow up with clients to ensure that all documentation needed for insurance approval/renewal is completed

Collaborate with Billing to identify clients that have recently lapsed on AHCCCS, notify the assigned case manager to follow-up with client regarding status of insurance

Provide assistance as needed to ensure continued coverage for clients treatment

Follow up with pending AHCCCS applications or renewals and update E.H.R. with relevant information as it becomes available Provide back-up coverage for the front desk, including creating charts and processing walk-ins

Completes Behavioral Health Consents and Release of Information in the EHR system.

Assist with prior authorizations from Tribal referrals, TRBHA's and any other health plans under the AHCCCS umbrella as assigned by supervisor Manage ongoing services authorizations to ensure there is no lapse in coverage services by collaborating with clinical teams and any external entities Documents in E.H.R. promptly and accurately Ensures that all insurance information entered in client record is accurate and update if Assist clients in obtaining copies of Certificate of Blood (CIB) as needed Assist clients in obtaining duplicate copies of Certificate of Blood/Tribal ID. Notarizes CIB requests and court documents. Track all Third-party coverages, HEAplus AHCCCS applications, CIB/Tribal ID on tracking sheet. Attend quarterly HEAplus (CPAO) meetings/trainings. Attend bi-weekly Outpatient Staff Meetings. Other duties as assigned. CORE COMPETENCIES:

:

High School or GED required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. Two (2) years of related work experience SKILLS REQUIREMENT

:

In-depth knowledge of eligibility/billing/benefits/enrollment in a behavioral health and/or medical setting

Experience with Arizona RHBA and TRBHA eligibility and inter-RHBA transfers Experience in working with private insurance plans/benefits Experience in AHCCCS enrollment and benefit verification processes

Highly detail oriented Must be a team player, possess a strong work ethic and be able to coordinate multiple tasks while meeting required deadlines Possess excellent customer service, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills At least one year Experience with Behavioral Health clinic Spanish speaking preferred Excellent communication skills - written and oral Fingerprint Certificate required Experience in working with the Native American population preferred Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Able to sit, stand and walk with/without accommodations.

Non-Exempt employees are entitled to overtime pay for hours worked in excess of forty (40) hours per workweek.
