Job Summary:

The Ceramics Studio Manager provides administrative and instructional support for the Babson Ceramics Studio. The Studio Manager works closely with Ceramic Studio Monitors and is responsible for the upkeep and operations of the clay studio including equipment, glazes, cleanliness, and kiln firings. The Ceramics Studio Manager also works with the Director and other BabsonARTS staff regularly.

Essential Responsibilities:

Manage studio and class registration in coordination with BabsonARTS administrative staff Schedule studio orientation sessions Create and implement kiln firing schedule with Ceramics Studio staff Ensure studio is properly stocked and all equipment is in good working order Maintain inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment Submit requests for ordering clay, glazes, tools, and materials as needed Oversee and coordinate operations of studio with studio staff, including but not limited to regular recycling of clay, mixing glazes, loading/firing/unloading of kilns, and cleaning studio Maintain Ceramics Studio email communication with studio users, studio staff, and BabsonARTS staff as needed Assist with planning and staffing campus events in the studio Qualifications:

Solid experience with ceramics in both hand building and wheel throwing Knowledge of ceramics equipment and processes Knowledge of basic glaze mixing, preferred Use of Babson Ceramic Studio for at least one semester, preferred Organized, detail and process oriented Strong communication skills (written and verbal) High level of professionalism and ability to work well with others Ability to use machinery and tools Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Comfort wearing a particulate respirator and safety glasses for glaze and clay recycling.
