Job Description
Under general supervision, the painter performs work preparing and painting within buildings, equipment, furniture, and various other surfaces and performing related work as required.
Responsibilities
Removes and replaces damaged wall, ceiling, and trim materials Prepares materials to properly accept finishes Applies finishes with paint brushes, rollers, or spray applicators to buildings, equipment, furniture, and other surfaces Determines type and kind of materials needed, time allowance between coats, the number of coats required, and adequacy of surface preparation for areas to be painted Applies primer, sealer, and undercoats to office interiors and applies finish and/or protective coats to walls and ceilings Thins material to proper consistency and mixes/matches paints to surfaces being painted Safely operates ladders, lifts, and scaffolding when performing tasks at elevated heights Performs other general maintenance work as requested The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of painting Knowledge of paints, colors, and mixing of colors Knowledge of surface preparations, primers, sealers, undercoats and thinners Knowledge of the equipment used in painting Knowledge of the safety precautions to be used when working with the necessary equipment Ability to apply paint evenly, consistently, and efficiently Ability to follow oral and written instructions Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees

Qualifications
Minimum:
Typically requires a high school diploma and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred:
Three or more years of relevant experience is preferred.
