We are partnering with a fast-growing Series A startup that is reimagining how software engineers learn, grow, and compete. The company has built a gamified developer platform that blends competition, learning, and AI-driven data pipelines to create unique, high-skill environments for developers worldwide. Backed by leading venture investors, the team is small, collaborative, and moving quickly-perfect for someone excited to join early and make a foundational impact. What You Will Do Lead backend architecture and system design for real-time, high-performance environments. Build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs, with Go as the core language. Work closely with frontend engineers and product managers to deliver seamless developer experiences. Ensure systems meet high standards of performance, reliability, observability, and security. Design and optimize relational database schemas and large-scale data pipelines. Contribute directly to infrastructure decisions, including AWS cloud services, Terraform, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines. Shape the product and platform alongside a small, high-agency team. Ideal Candidate Background 3-7 years of experience building and scaling backend systems and APIs. Strong foundation in distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and event-driven architectures. Hands-on experience designing APIs and services in Go. Proficiency in relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), including schema design and query optimization. Familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines. Exposure to Kubernetes and container orchestration. Track record of personal initiative (open-source contributions, side projects, GitHub repos, etc.). Startup experience (Series A-B preferred) or a mix of big tech plus small startup roles. Strong collaboration, communication skills, and product intuition. Preferred Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.). Knowledge of secure code execution environments and sandboxing. Interest or background in gamification, competitive programming, or developer platforms. Demonstrated ability to thrive in small, high-ownership environments. Compensation & Benefits Base Salary:
