REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Buildings & Grounds
JOB SUMMARY: Perform maintenance duties including repair and maintenance of heating plant, electrical, general facilities upkeep, repair, and plumbing.
WORK SCHEDULE: 8hrs/day, 12 month position, and 261 days/year - 40hrs/week
HOURLY RATE: $23.20 to $26.70/hr The starting rate will be determined by prior school experience.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Maintain the heating plants in good repair along with performing normal maintenance. 2. Perform repairs and replace lighting fixtures, wiring, electrical apparatus, refrigeration system and other systems as necessary. 3. Perform general repairs such as painting, carpentry, replacement of glass, concrete work, patching walls, and other jobs similar in nature across all facilities. 4. Repair and/or replace pipes, drains, and plumbing fixtures as necessary. 5. Examine district facilities, to include roofs, on a regular basis for the purpose of preventive maintenance and make recommendations on repairs. 6. Initiate, evaluate, update and complete workorders. 7. Analyze malfunctions, repairs various equipment and vehicles, along with routine repair and preventive maintenance. 8. Use various power equipment and hand tools that are used in the maintenance and mechanical trades such as wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, saws, drills, etc. 9. Perform general duties such as groundskeeping to include snow removal and landscaping. 10. Clean, scrub and wax. 11. Handle chemicals and hazardous materials in a safe manner. 12. Interpret blueprints, diagrams and schematics. 13. Provide support to outside contractors. 14. Utilize various software as required including, but not limited to FMX, Microsoft Suite, etc. 15. Obtain and maintain licensing as required and directed. 16. Check communications for changes in schedule, work orders, etc. 17. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency. At least 3 years' experience in areas of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry along with knowledge of heating/cooling plant operations. Knowledge in the use of lawn chemicals and fertilizers preferred. Must have valid PA Driver's License with a safe driving record. Ability to obtain clearances. Ability to reliably work with a diverse team, showing initiative and leadership. Ability to appropriate time efficiently, be self-motivated, anticipate the district's needs and coordinate with coworkers and supervisors. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion and climb over 5 feet. Ability to stand, walk, and bend for long periods of time.
PREFERRED: Possess and maintain a Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Public Pesticide Certification in categories 23 and 24. Possess and maintain a certification of completion in NFPA 70E (Arc Flash Training). Knowledge of BAS (Building Automation Systems)
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions. Ability to perform maintenance on lawn equipment. Ability to work flexible shifts and overtime to provide support for athletic, outdoor and weather-related events.
