Sheet Metal Technician - HVAC Ductwork
Pay Rate: $24 to $30/hour DOE
Location: Houston, TX 77073
Job Summary
The Sheet Metal Install Tech is responsible for installing various types of HVAC metal structures and equipment.
Essential Job Duties Follow the lead and instructions of the Lead Consult blueprints, work orders, and/or schematics to safely construct specified structure. Select appropriate material for each job based on the desired or necessary strength. Cut, bend, and shape sheet metal to required dimensions. Measure, cut, and weld pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions. Connects pieces or secures seams by riveting, rolling, soldering, or using steel screws. Perform assigned work on assembly lines such as punching holes for screws or bending gutters. Use appropriate machinery and software applications to complete assigned jobs. Coordinate required shutdowns and startups of equipment with other departments after sheet metal installation. Develop and maintain records for projects and repairs. Fabricate metal items using various techniques, such as welding, drilling, grinding, and sawing. Ensure quality and consistency in production processes by assessing, modifying, and/or calibrating HVAC equipment. Ensure compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, and best practices. Perform other duties as assigned. Follow all company safety guidelines. Required Skill/Abilities
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to use power and hand tools. Ability to follow instructions. Excellent mechanical skills. Ability to work both independently and with a team. Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 1-4 years of sheet metal experience required. Physical Requirements
Will be required to work in outdoor weather conditions. Prolonged periods of being in a stationary position. Must be able to ascend/ descend on a ladder as needed. Must be able to transport up to 50 pounds at a time.
