Position Overview

The French Immersion and International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP) Coordinator serves as a pedagogical leader of the Académie Lafayette Middle Years Program. The coordinator aligns French immersion principles with IB MYP standards and practices to create a cohesive educational experience for students in grades 6-8.

This role involves overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of French immersion best practices across all subjects and grade levels, ensuring high standards of French language instruction and cultural integration, and collaborating with stakeholders to maintain quality and compliance with IB, state, and school standards.

The Coordinator reports directly to the Principal.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership and Development

Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive French immersion curriculum aligned with the IB MYP framework Provide pedagogical guidance for teachers to ensure effective French language acquisition in all subject areas Stay informed of best practices in immersion education and IB approaches to teaching and learning Monitor program effectiveness across grades 6-8 Maintain communication with the IB organization and regional association Organize and lead MYP collaboration meetings Develop and maintain the Middle School's IB MYP program development plans Curriculum and Assessment

Guide teachers in developing MYP subject units while incorporating French immersion best practices Support implementation of assessment practices aligned with program goals Facilitate interdisciplinary planning and teaching Ensure vertical and horizontal curriculum articulation Develop tools to track student progress in French proficiency and academic performance Ensure cultural integration to enrich the immersion experience Teacher Support and Professional Development

Coordinate professional development opportunities Mentor teachers new to the IB MYP framework and French Immersion methodologies Assist with teacher recruitment, onboarding, and retention Conduct internal workshops on program methodologies and strategies Communication and Collaboration

Develop informational programs for parents Create materials about the program for the school community Maintain faculty communication regarding updates and requirements Serve as liaison between the school and the IB organization Collaborate with the high school IB coordinator for program alignment and student transitions Program Management

Manage documentation for IB authorization and evaluation Advise administration and faculty on IB/MYP requirements Coordinate the personal project for grade 8 students Oversee service as action requirements Monitor compliance with IB standards and practices Required Qualifications

French native or near native fluency in French and fluency in English Experience in French Immersion education At least three years of Middle or High School teaching experience Experience with curriculum mapping and development BA degree in Education, Curriculum Development, or related field Preferred Qualifications

Experience as an IB MYP coordinator Master's degree in Education, Curriculum Development, or related field Knowledge of French curriculum standards and practice Excellent communication and organizational skills Demonstrated project management abilities and sound judgment Strong team-building capacity
