Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, where your role as an Access Specialist will be vital in ensuring smooth and efficient patient registration experiences. This position focuses on providing exceptional service to patients and their representatives, accurately collecting necessary information, and facilitating access to clinical care and reimbursement processes.

Key Responsibilities

Welcome and interview patients or their representatives, gathering precise demographic and insurance details for medical and financial records. Obtain proper admission consent, including authorization to treat and permission to release information for insurance verification and billing. Verify insurance coverage electronically and resolve discrepancies before completing registration. Inform patients of their rights in compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards. Respond promptly and effectively to patient inquiries, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Collect applicable copayments and direct patients to appropriate treatment areas. Ensure accurate data entry and documentation, including notes on patient accounts and pre-authorization requirements. Maintain compliance with Medicare Secondary Payor rules, HIPAA privacy standards, patient rights, advanced directives, EMTALA, and JCAHO regulations. Provide financial assistance information and produce patient estimates and Advance Beneficiary Notices (ABN) as needed. Keep workspaces organized and maintain a professional demeanor under pressure, meeting attendance and punctuality standards. Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Preference given to candidates with certificates or diplomas in Medical Front Office, CNA, or Medical Terminology.

Experience

At least six months of experience in office, call center, customer service, or healthcare settings is necessary. Proficiency with computers and standard office equipment is essential.

Requirements

Strong attention to detail and ability to work under time constraints. Capability to concentrate on variable tasks for short periods and repetitive tasks for extended periods. Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, assist and transport patients in wheelchairs, and lift up to 10 pounds. Comfort working in a standard office environment with occasional exposure to noise, fumes, chemicals, and other hazards. Willingness to work shifts as required.
